Saake running for Illinois House seat

Republican Winfield businessman Gary Saake announced a campaign for Illinois House Wednesday, setting up a GOP primary battle against hopefuls Laura Pollastrini and Jeanne Ives.

Saake is a school board member at Community High School District 94 in West Chicago and owns DATAIR Employee Benefits, Inc.

He touted that business experience in announcing his run Wednesday.

“I will also work with employers, both small and large, to help remove the barriers that hinder their ability to grow their businesses and provide job opportunities and career growth to the hardworking people of Illinois,” Saake said in his announcement.

Saake said that if elected, he would resign his school board post.

The three candidates so far are vying for office from the new 42nd House District, which includes all or parts of Winfield, West Chicago, Wheaton, Carol Stream, Lisle, Naperville, and Warrenville.
