Northern Indiana man pleads guilty in go-kart shooting

GARRETT, Ind. — A northern Indiana man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in a shooting over a go-kart that left the shooting victim a quadriplegic.

The Star of Auburn reports that 31-year-old Darrick Hensley of Garrett entered his plea Monday in DeKalb Superior Court.

Hensley admitted that he shot and tried to kill Joshua Price, also 31, in April when he became irritated that Price was riding a go-kart in his neighborhood about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne.

Police said Price was shot up to 10 times, and was left a quadriplegic.

If a judge accepts Hensley’s plea, prosecutors would recommend his prison time be capped at 23 years, with the balance suspended. It also calls for no more than seven years of probation.
