Dead body discovered in Racine County

YORKVILLE, Wis. — A man discovered a dead body on a frontage road in Racine County.

Jim Nelson, who owns a courier service, tells The Journal Times he was making a delivery when he encountered a flooded area around 6:20 a.m. Monday between Highway 20 and Highway C.

When the 57-year-old reversed, he saw the body in his headlights.

Racine County Sheriff's Lt. Dan Klatt says the body was about 100 feet from a minivan, which was in 3 to 4 feet of water when deputies arrived.

He says the person drove around some road closed signs and then apparently got out to get help. Klatt says it's possible the victim had a medical condition, but an autopsy will be performed.

He says the case is still being investigated.
