U.S. stock futures flat ahead of Fed announcement

NEW YORK — Stock futures are roughly flat as traders wait to see whether the Federal Reserve will take steps to stimulate the economy.

Concerns that Greece could fail to qualify for fresh bailout funds are weighing on stocks.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke plans to discuss the results of the central bank's two-day policy meeting at midday Wednesday. Some analysts think the Fed will announce a plan to sell short-term Treasurys and buy longer-term issues in order to push down interest rates on long-term government debt.

Two hours before the opening bell, Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 5 points, or less than 0.1 percent, at 11,340. Standard & Poor's 500 futures are up 1 point, or 0.1 percent, at 1,196. Nasdaq 100 futures are down less than one point, at 2,296.
