Put a stop to all the disinformation

Misinformation is receiving incorrect information. Disinformation is being provided misinformation on purpose. During the recent budget “debate” I contend that most of us were disinformed. How is that?

Well, on Aug. 2 there would have been no default with or without a budget deal. Secondly, there really would have been no question as to the president (alone) being able to prioritize a schedule of payments where the soldiers, bondholders and Social Security recipients would have been paid first.

The third piece of disinformation is that if we hadn’t passed a new debt limit then our credit would be harmed. Subsequent events have shown that just isn’t true. U.S. debt securities are among the safest places businesses and governments can put their money.

And fourth, but really almost most importantly, is that the president tried to get us to believe that he wants to cut more debt than anyone else after he emphatically called for a new debt ceiling without any spending limitations. How gullible does he think we are? But if you believe President Obama wants to cut the deficit, then you also believe that his recent bus tour was not a campaign event and the taxpayer should be responsible for paying for those bills.

Citizens, we need to call the president, Congress and the news media out on the shameful way that they are treating the citizens of this country. Tell them you realize you are receiving disinformation and half truths from them and you want it stopped. And one change you expect from them is no more backroom deals and bills being voted on without adequate time for review by both the citizens and the legislators.
