Protester dumps beer on lawmaker at Madison bar

MADISON, Wis. — Police are searching for a man who dumped a beer on the head of Republican state Rep. Robin Vos on Wednesday night at a Madison bar, splashing two other Republican lawmakers in the process.

Madison Police did not identify Vos in their report on the incident Thursday, but his office confirmed it was him. The others were Assembly Majority Leader Scott Suder of Abbotsford and Rep. John Nygren of Marinette.

A bartender told police that the man who dumped the beer yelled something like “Money” and “Damn Republicans” during the incident.

Police say all three lawmakers told them the beer dumper swore at them and called them criminals.

After dumping the beer, the man fled but another Capitol employee identified him. Police were attempting to find him Thursday.
