Gas leak snarls Itasca traffic

Lanes were closed for several hours Wednesday on Rohlwing Road, near Irving Park Road in Itasca, as workers repaired a damaged gas line.

Police said construction crews accidentally struck a gas line after 10 a.m. while doing roadwork along Rohlwing, between Army Trail Road and the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway. No injures or traffic accidents were caused as a result, officials added.

Only one lane was open in each direction on Rohlwing near the intersection until just after 4 p.m. Wednesday. After that, any closures that remained were due only to the construction project, officials said.
