At a glance: The White Sox blew their big chance to put pressure on the Tigers in early September, losing three straight at Comerica Park. Detroit is running away in the American League Central and has won nine games in a row, its longest streak since 1984. Verlander is first in the AL in wins, strikeouts (232) and innings pitched (229) and is tied for first with Jered Weaver in ERA (2.44).
