A government divided cannot stand
A recent “Jeopardy!” question caused me to reread Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. The last line particularly struck me as relevant now — “and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
The war then between the North and the South is similar to the war between the Democrats and Republicans today, only without bloodshed. This current “war” is tearing this country apart and our government is perishing. I urge all politicians, on both sides, to look to history and bring this nation back together.
