Grayslake teams run race for autism

Submitted by Denise Kindle

The Grayslake Central High School soccer team and cheerleaders ran the 5K Rally for Autism race at Independence Grove in Libertyville recently to support a great cause.

The teams learned a lot about giving back to the community and they all did it together as a team. The student-athletes and coaches supported one another and, more importantly, supported anybody that was affected by autism by running the race. There were more than 600 runners in the event this year.

The following Grayslake Central Soccer and Cheerleading members placed in their respective age groups:

Ÿ Ages 1-14, boys: Isaac Longenecker (first place), Jackson Frey (second place), and Jason Knight (third place)

Ÿ Ages 1-14, girls: Lili Gagin (second place)

Ÿ Ages 15-19, boys: Asa Goldsmith (second place) and Phillip Longenecker (third place)

All proceeds from the Annual Rally for Autism will fund autism research, provide direct support to families affected by autism, assist other nonprofit organizations which serve the Autism community and raise awareness of autism.
