Train service from New York to Chicago to resume Saturday

ALBANY, N.Y. — Amtrak says it is restoring service on some lines in upstate New York after flooding led to track closures.

Amtrak says westbound Lake Shore Limited service from Boston and New York to Chicago is expected to resume on Saturday.

But Empire Service trains will operate normally only between New York City and the Albany-area station in Rensselaer while repairs are made.

Other lines scheduled to run on normal schedules Saturday are the Maple Leaf to Toronto, the eastbound Lake Shore Limited from Chicago, the Adirondack between Montreal and New York and the Ethan Allen Express to Rutland, Vt.

Cross-state Amtrak passenger service was canceled Thursday because of extensive flooding near Amsterdam, where the tracks run along the north bank of the Mohawk River.
