Speedway to kick off NASCAR Chase again in 2012

For the second consecutive year, Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet has been selected to kick off the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup during the 2012 season on Sept. 15 and 16. In addition to the September race weekend, NASCAR#146;s Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series will visit Chicagoland Speedway next summer on July 21 and 22. #147;It is certainly a privilege to host the start of the playoffs for one of the most watched and followed sports in the United States,#148; said Scott Paddock, president of Chicagoland Speedway. #147;The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup has proved to be an incredibly compelling platform for our fans and partners.#148;Here is the complete 2012 NASCAR schedule of events at Chicagoland Speedway:Saturday, July 21: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Sunday, July 22: STP 300 (NASCAR Nationwide Series) Saturday, Sept. 15: NASCAR Nationwide Series Sunday, Sept. 16: GEICO 400 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series) The Speedway#146;s inaugural 2011 Chase weekend will take place on Sept. 16-18 at the Joliet track. The 2011 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, the GEICO 400, will get under way on Sept. 18 at Chicagoland Speedway. The triple header NASCAR weekend will kick off with the Fast Five 225 (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series) on Friday, Sept. 16, followed by the Dollar General 300 presented by Coca Cola (NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, Sept. 17. Parking is free and fans can bring in one 6x6x12-inch soft-sided cooler with their favorite food and beverages.
