Job 1: reduce federal spending

Whatever we do, we simply must walk the walk in reducing federal spending. Making this program a reality is so clearly the primary issue that I can’t think of a more direct way of stating it. Deciding how much will come in and determining how we will stay within that budget cost are what we have to do.

Two different committees are necessary to do the work and they should get together on a nonpartisan basis and arrive at the same figure. There must be careful leadership to select people who know exactly what is expected to them. I understand that this has not been done at all for the past several years, and it must be done annually.

The entire country needs this program. I can think of no other duty that takes precedence over this as a concern of the entire Congress. I appreciate that this is drudgery, as legislation goes, but the future of our country depends on this being done every year.

The Congress is heavily committed to doing what a number of lobbyists tell them and is bought and paid for.

It will be a hard fight to change or enforce the rules, but it must be done. The country can’t afford the luxury of giving money away to people who are responsible for the outrageous cost of our legislation. Our country is going down the drain financially as we can see from the change of our credit rating from AAA+ to AA+.

I realize that getting more jobs is currently the biggest concern of the voters, but it is not as important as keeping the country’s economy on an even course.
