College football: Scouting Robert Morris/Minnesota State-Moorhead

Last week: Minnesota State-Moorhead didn’t play; Robert Morris lost to Mayville State (N. Dak.) 21-18

Outlook: Robert Morris nearly headed home a winner in the program’s inaugural game but Mayville State scored the winning TD in the fourth quarter from 8 yards on fourth down after getting a first down on a fake punt at midfield on the drive. LaMont Wims ran for a TD and caught a TD pass from Matt Westerkamp. So will already playing a game give the Eagles an edge as Minnesota State-Moorhead plays its opener under its third coach in three years after three straight 2-9 finishes? MSUM senior QB Kevin Koch is an Immaculate Conception product who threw for 1,760 yards with 10 TDs and 13 INTs last year after playing his first two years at College of DuPage. MSUM was picked to finish sixth in the seven-team North division of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in its coaches poll.
