University of Wisconsin won’t allow guns in buildings

MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin will allow concealed weapons outside, including tailgates, but not inside buildings at any of its campuses statewide, including Madison.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported Friday that under the new state legalizing the carrying of concealed weapons, the university will forbid them inside stadiums, classrooms and other buildings.

Concealed weapons will be allowed on campus quads, parking lots and other places that aren’t enclosed.

Guns are currently barred on all campuses. Under the new law taking effect Nov. 1, signs must be posted to show where guns are specifically prohibited.

The law also bars guns inside certain places including police stations, schools and courthouses.
