Indiana fair leader to discuss victim relief fund

INDIANAPOLIS — The head of the Indiana State Fair Commission is to discuss how it will handle the relief fund set up for those injured in this month’s deadly stage collapse.

That fund has collected more than $240,000 since it was established in the days after strong winds blew the outdoor stage rigging onto fans waiting to see country band Sugarland perform on Aug. 13.

Five fans, a security guard and a stagehand have died from their injuries. Some four dozen others were injured, several seriously.

Fair Commission Chairman Andre Lacy will be part of a news conference Wednesday afternoon at the fairgrounds.
