Ind. woman accused of running over officer’s foot

LAKE STATION, Ind. — A northwestern Indiana woman faces a criminal charge for allegedly driving over the foot of an officer who had just ticketed her for speeding.

The Times of Munster reports that the 37-year-old New Chicago woman, Graciela Cardenas, was charged Monday in Lake County with resisting law enforcement.

Lake Station police say patrol officer Katherine Dudlak stopped Cardenas in the Lake County city Sunday for speeding. When she handed her a citation, Cardenas allegedly swore at the officer and quickly rolled up her car window, narrowly missing the officer’s arm.

Cardenas then allegedly accelerated her vehicle, driving over the officer’s foot. Police said Dudlak was treated at a Hobart hospital for swelling and bruising to her right foot.
