Uncle Sam not dead, just abused

I, too, heard the story of old Uncle Sam that Walt Zlotow related in the Aug. 9 Fence Post. Sam wasn’t dead but he had seen a lot of abuse and it had been getting steadily worse over the last three years.

See, old Sam was found homeless on that hill in D.C. and told of how he had taken up with a new face in town. This new face was young and different and told stories hope and change and how thing could be like they never had never been before.

Before long, that new face moved into Sam’s house and that is when things got strange. First, Sam noticed his credit cards were missing. It seems the new face had gone on a shopping spree with his friends, Nancy and Harry. The threesome racked up more debt in three years than Sam had incurred since he built the house.

When asked about the new health insurance they bought, their response was they won’t know what it is until they read the paperwork that is still in the mail. Next they started buying car companies that Sam later had to dump which lost billions.

Sam asked the threesome how they were going to pay for all this and Harry suggested that they liberate some property from the neighbors. Harry reasoned that the neighbors had lots of stuff and it’s only fair to share.

Now Sam and a lot of his concerned friends are having second thoughts about this new face and came to Sam with advice and offers to help him get his house in order. Sam always knew that he had to work harder to earn the extra things in life. He also knew it was wrong to take from the neighbor just because they had more.
