Metea principal will lead state group

A pep rally of sorts honored Metea Valley High School Principal Jim Schmid, who was named president of the Illinois Principal’s Association for the 2011-2012 school year.

Schmid was recognized Monday night at the Indian Prairie District 204 board meeting with speeches, music, balloons, and a hug from Metea’s new mascot — Marty the Mustang. IPA Executive Director Jason Leahy presented Schmid with a ring to commemorate the honor. The IPA serves more than 4,500 educational leaders throughout Illinois.
