Grant to build Lombard sidewalk

The west side of Westmore-Meyers Road between Roosevelt Road and Norton Street in Lombard soon will have a sidewalk as the village board authorized use of a federal grant for the project.

The grant provides $97,000 — half of the project’s estimated $194,000 total — and the village will pay the other half. The project continues with a $16,000 contract with Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers for phase two design services also approved last week.

The new sidewalk will cross Sugar Creek and a Shell gas station’s property.
