Chicago Sky scouting report

Chicago Sky (11-14) at Washington Mystics (5-18)

When: 6 p.m., today

Where: Verizon Center

TV: Comcast Channel 100

Last time: On Sunday, the Sky beat the host San Antonio Silver Stars 85-73; on Thursday, the Mystics lost to the visiting Minnesota Lynx 81-62.

Skinny: The Sky, coming off a dominating performance against the Silver Stars, needs to string together some more to earn its first-ever playoff berth. The schedule is favorable as the Sky tries to catch the Atlanta Dream, 1½ games ahead in the race for the fourth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. The Sky’s next three games are against teams with sub-.500 records, including the Dream on Tuesday at Allstate Arena and two against the Mystics. The Sky hosts Washington on Friday. Against San Antonio, the Sky had a 45-20 rebound advantage. Center Sylvia Fowles racked up 28 points and 17 rebounds, Tamera Young had 15 points and Michelle Snow 11. The Mystics have lost three straight and 13 of 16 and are without two of the best perimeter players in the league as guard Alana Beard and small forward Monique Currie suffered season-ending injuries. Guard Matee Ajavon led Washington with 15 points on Thursday against the Lynx.

Next: Atlanta Dream at Sky, 7 p.m. Tuesday
