Community involvement the theme of Elburn Days

The 82nd annual Elburn Days festival will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 19-21, at Lions Park. The annual event will be kicked off with the traditional Elburn Days parade at 6 p.m. Friday.

The 2011 theme “Elburn Lions, Connecting to the Community and the World” promotes the involvement of our organization in our community and the links that the Elburn Lions Club has established to other organizations locally, nationwide and internationally.

The Elburn Lions provides residents with a 26-acre park setting with baseball diamonds and playground for their enjoyment. Throughout the year, various fundraisers and events provide fun and entertainment, with Elburn Days being the biggest fundraiser.

The Elburn Lions Club, community members and organizations take great pride in this annual event and work hard to provide enjoyment for all ages.

To every Lion dedicated to the motto “We Serve,” the concept of “community” takes on new and greater dimensions. Because of the worldwide scope of our organization represented in the very name “Lions Clubs International” — the community of Lionism extends to include districts, nations and the international community of mankind. Without your help and support, the Elburn Lions Club would not be able to provide the charitable help and support that we do provide.

Proceeds from the organization's events benefit many local organizations and the upkeep of the park. Benefactors include the local Food Pantry, vision-impaired Kaneland school kids, Little League Baseball clubs and Scouting.

Funds have aided tornado stricken areas in Joplin, Mo., and Chatham, Okla. Elburn Lions contributed to the Japanese tsunami relief effort, and the group is in the process of establishing ties to the German Lions club of Esens. It is an opportunity to learn about another club and its culture, but to also exchange ideas.

Please join us and enjoy Elburn Days at our park.
