NIU uses new logo on website

Northern Illinois University’s new logo has made it onto the school’s website.

The Daily Chronicle in DeKalb reported that the school’s new logo is now appearing on new stationery, brochures and other university publications. The black, red and white vertical illustration features the letters “NIU” and the top of a campus building.

A Pennsylvania design company created the final logo. The school received dozens of submissions. The new logo replaces a letters-only logo that has been used since 2006. It was revealed at the end of July.

NIU spokesman Brad Hoey says the new logo is part of the school’s rebranding efforts. He says the goal is to increase student recruitment.
