Suburban woman sentenced for bank fraud

Federal prosecutors in Virginia say a South suburban woman has been sentenced to three years in prison for access device and bank fraud because of her use of counterfeit credit cards in a multistate shopping spree.

Forty-year-old Sherry Taylor of Crete was sentenced Friday. She was convicted in April.

According to trial evidence, Taylor used the fake credit cards and traveled to other states to make large purchases with them.

During a two-day period in September, Taylor bought more than $57,000 worth of computer equipment and cameras at stores in Northern Virginia.

She caused more than $400,000 in losses to credit card companies and stores.
