Mike Jackson’s weekly fishing outlook

With cooler air temperatures now upon us in the area, I expect to see more fishermen out on the water.

Local angling results have been outstanding again, with excellent catches of bass and large panfish showing up.

Lake Michigan: Even though some anglers are finding perch in very deep water, it appears the jumbos have taken refuge in places unknown. But if it’s salmon you seek, try running the gauntlet on the Illinois-Wisconsin border for Chinook and steelhead.

Fox Chain: The nite bite for muskies has picked up on Lake Catherine and Lake Marie. Walleye action expected to pick up this weekend with more rainfall. Crappie and bluegill activity decent on Petite and Fox lakes.

Fox River: Fairly good results for smallmouth here for those working the shorelines in Batavia and Geneva.

Bangs Lake: Excellent largemouth bass fishing right on the weed edges.
