Cook County officials unveil budget website

Think you can balance the $3.1 billion budget of one of the nation's biggest counties? Here's your chance.

Cook County officials have launched a new interactive budget website that shows how tax dollars are being managed and it includes 15-year trends. The website breaks down the county's $315 million shortfall.

There's also a spot where the public can try out ways to cut the deficit by making decisions on revenue and cuts.

The county will collect and publish its spending on a quarterly basis. That's according to a news release on Monday. The website also allows for feedback to Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle.
