Emanuel: Chase to create 400 jobs in Chicago

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says J.P. Morgan Chase is opening four new branches in Chicago and that will mean 400 new jobs in the city by the end of next year.

Emanuel and Chase’s Midwest Chairman Glenn Tilton made the announcement Tuesday at one of those new branches on Chicago’s Northwest Side. Tilton says the expansion is part of the bank’s growing retail operation.

Emanuel touted the announcement as part of his administration’s efforts to bring jobs to the city. By his count, 4,000 new jobs have been announced since he took office in May.

The new Chase jobs will be located at bank facilities downtown and at the new branches.

Chase has about 8,200 employees in Chicago and nearly 130 branches in Chicago.
