Electrolux completes move from Illinois to N.C.

BLOOMINGTON — Electrolux has completed the move of its Home Care Products division from Bloomington to Charlotte, N.C.

Company spokeswoman Caryn Klebba tells WJBC radio that about 90 employees moved to the new division headquarters. Klebba says most were relocated by July 25.

Klebba says about 50 employees from Bloomington weren’t asked to work in North Carolina. She was not aware of plans for the company’s Bloomington property.

The company has said the move is part of efforts to consolidate its U.S. corporate offices and support operations in Charlotte.

In 2000, the company closed its manufacturing plant in Normal, costing 360 workers their jobs. Electrolux now makes vacuum cleaners in Juarez, Mexico.
