Do your part to keep the earth clean

The pollution in the city of Chicago is horrible. Many people have been talking about it, but nothing has been done to actually fix the problem. One of the problems is that there are hardly any plants in the city. Former Mayor Richard Daley tried to create “green” spaces, but it was not enough. We have should have gardens on every roof in Chicago. I hope Mayor Rahm Emanuel will look into projects like this. Gardens on the rooftops would use the carbon dioxide to create oxygen, and that would make the air cleaner.

Another problem is the litter. There are many trash cans in Chicago, but some people don’t pay attention to that. The police should also be on the lookout for people who are littering and they should be given tickets for littering. If the littering laws are enforced, then people might do their part to throw out their trash properly and Chicago will be much cleaner.

The final problem is pollution from cars. We can fix this by having solar-powered trolleys that have routes throughout Chicago. I know this is a big project, but as a Boy Scout I know that our Leave No Trace policy is very important and it is easy to keep the earth clean if everyone does their part.
