Bishop Thomas G. Doran of the Rockford Diocese dedicated the new St. Patrick Catholic School in St. Charles Saturday morning.
The school, on Crane Road between Bolcum Road and Silver Glen Road, will be ready to welcome students for the 2011-2012 school year. Saturday's event included an open house, a blessing and dedication ceremony.
About 540 students will attend the school in the fall, and the building has room for enrollment to grow to 800.
The existing campus in downtown St. Charles will house preschool classes for 3- and 4-year-olds and a new extended day program before and after school hours for students enrolled in the grade school.
