Villa Park fire roars for more than 2 hours

Firefighters battled a Villa Park box-alarm blaze for more than two hours late Thursday afternoon, which left the home uninhabitable, officials said.

The fire started on the first floor of a two story home in the 600 block of North Michigan Avenue and burned for nearly two and a half hours until firefighters had it under control, Villa Park Fire Lt. Ken Charapata said.

Charapata said the fire was contained to the first floor, but the second floor of the home sustained smoke damage.

No one was injured in the fire, which remained under investigation late Thursday night.
