Joe Chovelak was a member of the 20th Air Force 29th Bomb group #314th Wing during World War II, stationed out of Guam. Where he was a radio operator on the B-29 Bomber. On Saturday, July 23rd the Commemorative Air Force flew to the DuPage Airport their restored B-29 Bomber named “FIFI.”

Micah Hill of Naperville was one the many visitors to the DuPage Airport to see the WW2 era B-29 Bomber named “FIFI.” The bomber is part of the Commemorative Air Force, a group that flies historic planes around the country so more people can experience a piece of living history on Saturday July 23rd.

“The plane is a living history lesson,” said Gerald Oliver (photo left) who is part of the flight crew along with Jim Neill and Larry Popp on the Commemorative Air Forces restored B-29 Bomber. “Instead of taking people to a museum, we take the museum to the people.”

Some of the festivals we photographed this weekend were Des Plaines Summer Fling, Mount Prospect's Midsummer Downtown Block Party, Village Tavern of Long Grove's veterans concert and pig roast, Lake Zurich Alpine Festival, Hoffman Estates/Alexian Brothers Fitness For America Sports Festival , Dupage airport's Community Days and the Kane County Fair.
