Don’t be fooled by scare tactics

The system of checks and balances that was built into the fabric of this country was put there so that no one person would have supreme authority. The people who have suggested that Obama be given authority to raise the debt ceiling at will without consulting Congress should take a second look at what they are proposing. Yes, the debt problem is huge, but not beyond fixing. If the debt ceiling is raised and raised and raised, the problem might not be able to be fixed. The scare tactics of attacking Social Security and other programs are just that, scare tactics with no basis in fact. The Congress should be cutting the waste in Washington, but they are not. The Congress could cut foreign aid, some of the countries that we are giving money to don’t like us anyway, so what the heck, save that money for our country. Take a look at the money wasted on the salaries of the czars. Their appointments weren’t approved by Congress. Get rid of them and save that money. Congress should not fall victim to the scare tactics that are being thrown about. Gregory S. Jacobs
