Decatur gets ready for Farm Progress Show

DECATUR, Ill. — Organizers say the heat that’s hit central Illinois is good news in one way for the Farm Progress Show.

Show manager Matt Jungmann says the warmth should help late-planted demonstration crops get ready in time for the event, which starts on Aug. 30.

But Jungmann admits the people getting ready for the show aren’t as happy about the heat as the corn is.

The (Decatur) Herald & Review reports that crews are working to prepare the site this year to give exhibitors time to get ready. Those preparations include putting up new buildings.

Organizers say the additions will nearly triple the amount of available indoor space at the event.

Jungmann says the exhibit field for the Farm Progress Show is full, with 25 to 30 companies on a waiting list.
