LCFSA schedules tryouts

The Lake County Fastpitch Softball Association will soon be holding tryouts for the 2011-2012 season.

Travel players from all areas with a desire to play competitive A-level fastpitch softball and who have an interest in playing middle school, high school and college varsity ball are welcome to try out. There is no fee for the tryout.

Players should bring their own equipment and water, and should arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled tryout time to complete a registration/waiver form.

Players under 18 years of age will need a parent’s signature on the form.

All tryouts will be held at the Lake Zurich High School varsity softball field, 300 Church Street in Lake Zurich. Players need only attend one of the tryouts, but are welcome to return for the second tryout if they feel the first wasn’t a true reflection of their skills. The schedule is as follows:

14U/12U/10U — Tuesday, Aug. 9, 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

18U/16U — Wednesday, Aug. 10, 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

Rain Date — Thursday, Aug. 11, 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

18U — Saturday, Aug. 13, 9 a.m.-noon

16U — Saturday, Aug. 13, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

14U — Sunday, Aug. 14, 9 a.m.-noon

12U/10U — Sunday, Aug. 14, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Tennis workshop:Warren Township High School is hosting one of two free summer tennis coaching clinics for Illinois High School Tennis Coaches Association members.All coaches are welcome, but non-IHSTCA members must pay a $20 fee.The date for the workshop at Warren is Monday, July 25, 5-6:30 p.m.Another workshop is scheduled for Peoria Richwoods High School on July 27, 5-6:30 p.m.Topics for the workshops inlcude:Ÿ PublicityŸ Setting up a summer campŸ Ordering supplies/budget processŸ FundraisingŸ Setting up your scheduleŸ IHSA rules and guidelinesŸ Running an invitational meetŸ 30 drills for you to add to your repertoire Presenters will be Warren coach Greg Cohen, a former IHSTCA and National Federation of High Schools coach of the year; and Ottawa coach Matt Gross, current IHSTCA president.
