Hearing scheduled for suspect in Atlanta shootings

ATLANTA — The 22-year-old security guard charged in a shooting spree that left one woman dead and two others wounded in Atlanta is scheduled to appear before a judge.

Nkosie Thandiwe was arrested Friday after authorities say he opened fire in a parking deck in the busy Atlanta district where he worked as a security guard.

Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos said Thandiwe called an attorney and turned himself in Friday after he realized he had been identified by police.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim Saturday as 26-year-old Brittany Watts.

Police say Thandiwe shot Watts and then drove away in her Toyota Prius. He is also charged with shooting Lauren Garcia and Tiffany Ferenczy, who both worked at a public relations firm, as he left the deck.
