Naperville man charged after knife attack

A Naperville man has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after slashing someone across the face with a kitchen knife while in his home.

Andre Poole, 22, of the 700 block of Royal Street in Naperville, got into a verbal argument with the victim at about 11 p.m. Tuesday night when he allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed the unidentified victim, officials said.

Police were called to the apartment regarding the incident, but did not find the victim at the scene. They discovered the victim had been transported to Edward Hospital by a friend, where he was being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police discovered Poole and the victim were in a verbal spat that became heated, which ultimately escalated to Poole slashing the victim’s face with a knife.

Poole was taken into custody by police at the apartment and the weapon used was recovered.

Poole was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and is expected to appear in bond court later this morning.
