Young boy jailed in central Illinois woman's death

CHANDLERVILLE — Authorities in central Illinois have arrested a young boy in the weekend shooting death of a 39-year-old woman.

The Mason County sheriff's office told The (Springfield) State Journal-Register that Brenda Schaad was found shot to death Saturday evening in her home in Chandlerville, about 40 miles northwest of Springfield. The boy was arrested later Saturday.

Authorities wouldn't confirm the boy's age, but the Illinois State Police said before his arrest they were looking for an 11-year-old boy. Residents of the area also said they believe the boy is 11.

Authorities wouldn't say what the boy's connection is to Schaad.
