Arlington Hts. man arrested on drug charges

Cook County Sheriff's police officers investigating an Arlington Heights man in connection with a burglary, arrested him on drug-related charges instead.

Nicholas Eich, 23, faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance after police recovered 25 Vicodin pills, two amphetamine pills, a small amount of heroin and a hypodermic needle, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jerome Allen during Eich's bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows.

Sheriff's officers observed needle marks consistent with drug use on Eich, said Allen. Eich, of the 1900 block of Verde Drive, admitted to officers he had drugs in his possession, Allen said.

Cook County Judge Anthony Iosco set bail at $10,000 for Eich who Allen says violated the one-year conditional discharge he received for reckless driving. That violation was unrelated to this case, Allen said.

Eich next appears in court on Tuesday, July 12.
