Purdue student's body found in N. Indiana lake

MONTICELLO — The body of Purdue University student has been found in a northern Indiana lake two days after he was last seen going swimming during a party with friends.

WLFI-TV of Lafayette reports that the Carroll County Sheriff's Department says 22-year-old Sean Matti's body was spotted Tuesday morning floating about 30 yards from the shore of Lake Freeman near Monticello.

State conservation officers say the Shoreview, Minn., native was last seen about 5 p.m. Sunday and that friends spent six hours looked for Matti before calling police. Hours of searches involving divers and boats continued on Monday.

Matti had been a walk-on running back with Purdue's football team since 2007. Purdue spokesman Tom Schott tells the Journal & Courier that Matti was a scout team player.
