Delta changing flight plans in Peoria

Delta Airlines plans to add flights between Peoria and Detroit but also will cut back its service to Minneapolis.

Gene Olson is director of Gen. Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. He told the Journal Star newspaper in Peoria that Delta will double its daily flights between Peoria and Detroit from two to four. At the same time the airline plans to cut its service between Peoria and Minneapolis from two flights a day to one.

Olson said both changes are expected to happen by early September. He said the changes should benefit international travelers because Detroit has better connections than Minneapolis.

Olson said the airport is trying to get Delta to restore service to Atlanta. Delta cut its Peoria-to-Atlanta flights in 2009.
