GM Foundation donates $2.5M to Detroit college

DETROIT — The General Motors Foundation says it's donating $2.5 million to the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

The announcement was made Monday, the same day as a dedication ceremony for the General Motors Auditorium at the college's A. Alfred Taubman Center. The center is at the former GM Argonaut building, which was donated to the college by the automaker in 2008.

The College for Creative Studies is an art and design school that's known for educating automotive designers.

The automaker and the foundation also support CCS through development of a transportation design curriculum, and GM designers teach and do mentoring.
