Bruce Lee museum proposal shelved in Hong Kong

HONG KONG — The Hong Kong government says plans to build a Bruce Lee museum at the former home of the late kung fu movie star have been shelved because negotiations with the owner of the property have broken down.

The government said in a statement on Sunday that officials were “unable to reach a consensus with the property owner over the scope of the restoration.”

The government said the Lee artifacts it collected for the museum will instead be used for an exhibit at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum that is expected to launch in late 2012.

An operator who answered the phone at the offices of the property owner, businessman Yu Pang-lin, on Sunday, said his staff wasn’t in.
