Rahm Emanuel to hold meeting via Facebook

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says he’ll hold town hall discussions with residents — and they won’t even have to leave home.

Emanuel says he’ll hold a telephone town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Monday and a live online chat via Facebook at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The Facebook meeting will be held live at Kennedy-King College, and questions will be submitted and ranked by the public. People can ask questions on the city website, on Facebook and on Twitter.

The mayor’s office says it will schedule viewing events at select public and community facilities with internet availability. Residents may call 311 to find out where to get free computer and internet access.

Emanuel says the town halls fulfill a campaign promise to talk directly to residents.
