2 southern Illinois disaster centers to reopen

MARION, — State and federal emergency management officials say two southern Illinois disaster centers will reopen to help victims of spring flooding.

A center will open at Emerson Elementary School in Cairo on Wednesday and at Gallatin School in Junction on Thursday. The centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and both will close on Saturday.

Officials say residents can meet face to face with disaster recovery specialists, who will check on the status of applications and help check into other disaster programs that might be available.

Residents also can complete an application online or by phone.

Those seeking aid must apply with the Federal Emergency Management Agency even they have provided information to other agencies or local officials.
