A 21-year-old Addison man has been charged for stealing a vehicle at a Lombard-area gas station while the owner was inside, police said.
Jeffrey Jaskoske, of the 200 block of Haddon Place, was arrested early Saturday after a short foot pursuit in Lemont. He was charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and theft, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office.
Authorities said Jaskoske stole the vehicle from a Speedway Gas Station in unincorporated Lombard after starting a conversation with the car’s owner, then taking it when the owner went inside.
Jaskoske then committed a strong-arm robbery at a McDonald’s in Lisle, racked up numerous traffic offenses in Downers Grove and finally was arrested by Lemont police after a foot chase, according to the sheriff’s office.
He is being held at the DuPage County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail and is scheduled to be in court at 9 a.m. June 28.
A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said Jaskoske also was charged for the offenses committed in Lisle and Downers Grove. Those departments could not be reached for comment Monday night.
