Heat index advisory through Wednesday

Officials from the National Weather Service have issued a heat index advisory as temperatures are expected to swell into the upper 90s Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s later Tuesday afternoon before dipping to 80 degrees when the sun sets Tuesday evening.

It expected to reach the mid 90s again Wednesday before dropping back to the high 60s or lower 70s overnight.

The humidity associated from the mid-90s weather could result in a heat index of more than 100 degrees during the afternoon hours both Tuesday and Wednesday, meteorologists warn.

Because of the heat, people are warned to drink plenty of fluids and wear sunblock if outside for extended periods of time.

People also are reminded never to leave children or pets in vehicles during times of high heat.
