Driver injured after car hits house in St. Charles

One person was injured after one car crashed into a home in the 1600 block of Fox Chase Boulevard early Tuesday.

Paul McCurtain, spokesman for the St. Charles Police Department, said the as-yet unidentified 57-year-old driver of the vehicle was expected to turn at the intersection of Fox Chase and Huntington Road in St. Charles, but drove through it, onto the lawn, missing several trees, before he hit a parked car in the driveway.

McCurtain said the parked car then lurched forward, through a garage door, and into a third car inside.

The driver of the vehicle was injured in the crash and transported to nearby Delnor Hospital.

McCurtain said no one in the home was injured in the crash.

The home that was struck was up for sale before Tuesday's crash. McCurtain said the fire department was on the scene helping shore up the home.

It remains unclear why the driver did not turn before striking the parked car, McCurtain said.
