Big act for RibFest:

Blues Hall of Famer Lonnie Brooks will headline a RibFest this summer planned by the Vernon Hills Park District. Executive Director Jeff Fougerousse on Tuesday told the village board the Blues Brothers band would perform the other day of the festival planned for Aug. 26 and 27 at Century Park. The park district was seeking a license to serve beer and wine. Famous Dave’s and Brothers Ribs already are on board, he added and feelers are out for two more vendors to round out the field. “Things are coming along very well,” Fougerousse said. The park district is planning the event, as well as a community garage sale in the fall to raise money for its scholarship fund.
