FBI, U.S. Marshals join search for 6-year-old

The FBI and U.S. Marshals have joined the search for a missing 6-year-old Aurora boy, but police say leads are lacking in the case.

Authorities hope the advanced technology the two federal agencies are equipped with will help hone in on the location where Amy Fry-Pitzen made phone calls to relatives in the Sterling area, when at least one relative spoke to her son Timothy Friday.

“We are trying to shrink the big circle into a smaller circle in terms of where their last cellphone calls were made from,” said Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli. “The U.S. Marshals have equipment that hopefully can pinpoint their location where they made the calls.”

Timothy Pitzen was last seen with his mother Friday morning in Wisconsin but has not been seen since. His mother was found dead from an apparent suicide Saturday afternoon in a Rockford hotel room.

“We are not getting the leads that we would like,” Ferrelli said. “We’ve got every resource devoted to this that we can.”

Timothy’s father was still hoping for word about his son Tuesday. “I’m waiting by the phone for them to call and say, ‘We found him. Come get him,”’ James Pitzen told The Associated Press. “If someone has him, please turn him in to the police. Please let us know where he’s at.”
